Frequently asked questions
Why are there two exchange rates in Bolivia?
The official rate (Bs 6.96 per dollar) has been set by the Central Bank of Bolivia since 2011, but because of the dollar shortage there is a parallel market where the currency trades at a higher price.
Where does the parallel rate come from?
It is a reference from the informal market (for example, the median of USDT/BOB offers on P2P platforms) that we update regularly. The update date is always shown.
Which one should I use?
It depends on your case: formal bank transactions use the official rate; for cash or crypto dollar purchases, the parallel rate is the market’s realistic reference.
